Twenty first repair on Silver Bullet

Actually this is not a repair but since it's something to do with engine oil, I'll include it in.

Bought 4L of Castrol Edge 5w-40 Fully Synthetic oil from Ban Loong Tyre & Auto Service in Damansara Jaya for RM210 (old price; new price is RM215) to top up the engine oil in my Silver Bullet coz the engine oil is leaking.

Total cost of maintaining Silver Bullet in 24 months

I just calculated the total cost of maintaining my Silver Bullet which is a BMW E46 325i.

After 24 months of owning it, I spent around RM 22172.40 in repairs and engine oil service.

This comes to around average of RM 923.85 per month.

Repair on Proton Wira

I had to send my Proton Wira to workshop at Taman Mayang yesterday during lunch hour due to serious malfunctioned part of the car.

Which part? The fuel hose from the petrol tank to the petrol inlet (where you normally pump petrol) and the return hose (where the fuel returns back to the inlet once the tank is full) both crack and the return hose is leaking petrol.

Luckily I noticed the problem early and quickly send the car to workshop.

Was so worried some motorcyclist or driver will throw their ciggarete butt on the road that might ignite the leaking petrol (the petrol leaks all the way from petrol station to my office and from my office all the way to the workshop) while I'm on my way to the workshop but luckily nothing happened.

Repair cost:

Petrol tank small hose RM28
Petrol tank big hose RM38
Labor RM30

At the same time, got the engine oil changed.

Hi Rev oil RM58
Oil filter RM15
Labor RM30

Total cost RM199.

Solar powered lamp post

I copied this article from here.

CM blows his top over hill trysts

MALACCA: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam is hopping mad over reports that young couples have been having sexual trysts on the historical hilltops of St John's Hill and St Paul's Hill.

He immediately directed the local council to thwart the undesirable activities after he was briefed on the recent discovery of used condoms at the unlit St John's hilltop and also the sighting of lovers having their rendezvous at St Paul's Hill.

“These historical sites have been turned into havens for unsavoury acts. I want all those responsible for the maintenance of the sites to meet me.

“I will not hesitate to issue show-cause letters to council workers who have been tasked to supervise the sites,” he said yesterday.

Mohd Ali said he will make suggestions for the sites to be lit extensively using solar-powered lamp posts.

“I will work on the costs and expedite the upgrading work of the lamps. A gotong-royong programme will be carried out very soon to clean up the surrounding areas, especially St John's Hill,” he added.

He also said enforcement agencies will be asked to intensify patrols at the areas.

“I don't want the sites to be known for the wrong reasons and I am surprised that the authorities are unaware of this,” he added.

A check by The Star yesterday showed some spots at St John's Hill had been turned into a meeting point for people who were believed to have been involved in sexual trysts.

Joggers going up the hill also reported sighting dozens of used condom packs strewn all round the historical site, including the fort where the 18th century Dutch cannons are.

Locals had also observed lovers gathering at the hill during late nights.

Founded in 1571 by Portuguese conquerors, the hilltop has been recognised as a Unesco world heritage site.

The site once housed the remains of Roman Catholic missionary St Francis Xavier, who was buried there in 1553 before his body was moved to Goa, India.

Tourists throng the sites daily, which are famous for their unique ruins and the breathtaking view of Malacca town.

This "Mohd Ali said he will make suggestions for the sites to be lit extensively using solar-powered lamp posts." really tickles me :D

I'm wondering, where this Mohd Ali gonna get sun light to power his solar-powered lamp posts at night...

How to eat more 'active' calories

How to eat more 'active' calories

By Alison Johnson

All calories are not created equal. Some require more energy to digest, giving you "a bigger bang for your buck," says Leslie Bonci, registered dietitian, director of sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and an author of the upcoming book "The Active Calorie Diet."

Some tips:

Eat plenty of low-fat protein. Digesting these foods requires the most calorie burn. Just keep choices healthy: lean meats, eggs and low-fat dairy products, for example, not fatty cheeseburgers.

Focus on fiber. Fiber-rich foods place second on the active calorie scale. Load up fresh vegetables and fruits _ with the skin on _ beans, bran cereals and whole-wheat products, including breads.

Go for chewy. Your mouth, the first stop in the digestive process, will have to work harder. Choose whole fruit versus fruit juice and toss extra beans or broccoli into soups and stir-fries.

Add spice. Including items such as crushed peppers, wasabi and hot sauce at most meals likely will burn 10 to 20 extra calories a day thanks to a compound called capsaicin _ not a lot, but it adds up over time. If you can't tolerate spice, try cinnamon, garlic, ginger or cloves and use vinegar as a marinade.

Drink green tea. Brew it yourself, hot or cold, to take advantage of a metabolism-revving substance in tea leaves (just don't ruin it with lots of sugar). As for coffee: caffeine, a central nervous stimulant, also can help torch a few calories.

Cook more. Opening a package burns almost zero calories _ much less than preparing meals from scratch.

Beware non-active calories. Cookies and pastries, chips, sodas and highly processed meats such as hot dogs and chicken nuggets are easily digested and most likely to be stored as fat.
